Project Overview
Additional Details
Tri-Core Projects was contracted by HudBay Minerals to construct and upgrade their copper mill’s tailings impoundment near Creighton, Saskatchewan. Over a period of four months, while production continued at HudBay’s mine site, Tri-Core deployed a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technologists, site supervisors, and labourers. This skilled team was tasked with the critical objective of expanding the existing tailings facility to ensure safe and sustainable operations in alignment with industry standards.
The comprehensive scope of work included several key components: first, raising the existing tailings impoundment dam to enhance its capacity; second, the installation of concrete control structures to manage water flow; third, the placement of impervious embankment fills to prevent seepage; fourth, meticulous bedrock cleaning to prepare the site effectively; and finally, the installation of dental concrete to seal fissures and cracks in the bedrock, thus reinforcing the integrity of the impoundment. Each step was crucial for optimizing the long-term stability of the facility.
