Project Overview
Additional Details
Tri-Core was contracted by Manitoba Hydro to complete civil works for the development of the switching station of the Keeyask Hydro Electric Generating Station project. The work involved several key tasks, including stripping organics, the installation of geotextiles, and granular hauling and placement of approximately 250,000 tonnes of material. Notably, construction took place under challenging winter conditions in a remote northern location, adding complexity to the project.
A key success of this initiative was Tri-Core’s ability to effectively manage multiple projects through a set of unionized agreements. Specifically, the work at Keeyask was executed under the Burntwood Nelson Agreement, which included a job referral service. This service required Tri-Core to prioritize the selection of local candidates, thereby supporting a significant portion of the labor needs with local workforce participation, which played a crucial role in the project’s overall success.
